Not long ago, I spoke about Suicide Prevention at an event in Arizona. FULL DISCLOSURE: I strongly dislike speaking events—they make my guts twist, turn, and do back-flippy things, and I can hardly sleep the night before.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I’m nervous (I mean, okay—maybe I am a little). But it’s mostly because I have so much I want to say and I rarely ever feel like I say half of it—especially when it comes to suicide prevention.
That being said, I felt really good about this event in Arizona. I shared my experience of being involved in the Mormon Message “Sitting on the Bench: Thoughts on Suicide Awareness and Prevention.” I then shared the story of how my Dad rescuing me in the Grand Canyon. I used that story to illustrate how we can help others who are struggling in the darkness.
But I don’t need to waste time telling you all of the details. You can actually watch the video for yourself! It was graciously filmed by Nick Sorenson (thanks, Nick!) and given to me to share with you.
Take some time to watch the video below. It’s my hope that something in message will help you move forward in life (I mean, I rambled on for over thirty minutes—there’s GOTTA be something useful in there)!
