In 2019, I spoke at a Suicide Prevention conference in Utah. The title of my presentation was “A Reason to Live.” In it, I shared one of my all-time favorite stories from American History—a story you’ve probably never heard before—few people have.
In fact, this story is so remarkable—so miraculous—that it’s almost unbelievable. But ever since learning about it in 2014, I have literally thought about it every single day. It proves that finding a reason to live can literally change everything.
In the 1600s a lonely young man inadvertently discovered his reason to live. And his discovery would save his life—and change the world.
